I have two tanks and my RTBS is out growing his 2ft tank (got him from work)

and my main tank a 3ft has catfish and neon tetras in there.
I seriously want to have him out of his horrible little tank,
but worried will he do my tetras over,
Is it possible with the correct amount of hiding spaces he will leave them alone?
any thought welcome
Cheers
Carl

Uhhh, i dont know mate, if the tetras were larger i think you may have been ok but neons are small and easy pray for him. Even with hiding places i think you will have problems. Saying that, i am sure someone will be along to say the complete opposite to me!LOL! Hope you get something worked out. GRJ

going to make alot of caves if I do first,
as him and my catfish have fought before over territory and my rtbs come of alot worse :p

dint think you will have much trouble with it atm. when they get older they are said to get cranky. however even the 3 foot tank is way too small for a RTBS, yep i know they only grow to 6-7 inches, but its said that they need as much room as a silver shark!!!! which means your are going to need a tank of 50+ to even get close to the right amount of room for him.

as for hunting, i have never seen it, it chases the silver shark from time to time, lol then the shark chases it back, but as for food it sticks to the stuff i drop in, and is quite fond of cucumber, believe it of not.

i don't Really want him tbh But just couldn't stand his conditions my work had him in,
I'll be buying a 567litre at some point ;)

funny thing is I have never seen him eat you comment he loves cucumber,
Mine also does but only ventures out to eat at night..

lol yeh come to think of it, i dont see it eat much. in my tank it needs to get in fast, with 3 common plecos cory and the synose, you have to be fast to get the treats.

boboboy - I've just spent a bit trying to gey a "bug" off my screen, only to realise its you're signature..

On the subject of the RTBS, don't know much about them myself, but although the 3ft is yeah too small adequate hiding places etc should be enough for a little while. Do a "test run" on it.

i quite agree for now, however you may see an increase in collision injurys, white marks on its body, split fins and tail. though none are very bad. it is to be watched.
