Aww.. is that why his nose is a bit red?

Sometimes I want to cringe when I see staff handle fish when they obviously have no clue how to. When we bought our congo puffer, the guy was really nervous in case he got bitten, pulled the puffer right out of the water in the net and then kept banging the bag against the side of the tank while sealing it.

I'm sure he must have heard me squealing every time he did that....

Those farlowellas have really delicate noses. You have to be so careful not to catch them when netting as they are rubbery and bend quite easily.

I think he's a Sturisoma aureum :)

The person was pretty rough with him, I almost asked if I could just catch him my self. He was pretty expensive too, like they care  . "Catch the swimming stick!!! "

Yeah, I almost asked the assistant if I could catch the puffer myself too.

They are like swimming sticks aren't they. One of ours is named Twiggy. :D

When my LFs catches a farlowella, they prefer to use hand. It's easy to get your hand under the fish, and gently lift it out of the tank and slide it into the bag. The fish isn't really afraid of human hands and doesn't struggle. Much easier than a net I think.

Thanks, when I move him from the quarantine tank I'll do that

What a great looking fish that is, pitty about the stupid staff though. I try to be very careful and not thrash about then catching fish. Will have to look out for some of them myself!!

I was catching goldfish for some lady in the ponds and i always left the fish from the net to the bag with my hands. The the lady shoust and grabbing my hand going you can't touch them it burns them, so i say it's fine aslong as your hands are wet...which they were. She came in today wanting fancy goldifhs in with the commons, i turn her down saying they would stuff but she said don't touvch em this time  she really annoyed e saying that, even though my boss had corrected her last time aswell. She came in with 2 dead fish out of 10 she bought probably down to bacteria infection blaming me cause i touched them.

 Thanks, they are a great fish, he eats plenty of the nasty algae in the quarantine :) You must get the occasional bad customer I see :p

That's the joy of working in retail I'm afraid - you always get some a-hole come along who thinks they know it all.

Indeed...quiet a few actually!!

I couldn't help laughing behind 1 customers back when a work mate was dealing with them she was so stupid!!

Oh well rant over....very nice fish....hows he settling in?

'his beak blinks like a blinkin beacon!' :p that fish is absolutely adorable with that little red nose!

when I bought by silver tip tetras [at superpet no less] the cashier just threw them around in their bag and tossed them into a bag so i could carry them out. I was like  excuse me those things are alive you know!

His nose is normal now :p Is Superpet like a Canadian equivelent of petco? Do they treat their fish like ananimate objects too?
