ok story goes like this...
yesterday(3/5/06 8 ish) i was cleaning the tank out and found that i had alot of algae build up on my condensation plate, so i scrub at it with an algue sponge till i get most the crap off,
go to replug my all in one systemised tank, (filter, heater and lights all in one combi) and the light doesnt work, so a unhook the top which contains the filter area and light and unscrew the plate, play around with the T5 alittle and try again this time the light goes back on, great i think, so i happily get on with my life to find when i go to turn the light off at 9 it doesnt turn off so im there stressing out over why it wont turn off, so i turn the power of to the mains and play with it some more, its now late (10 ish) i try and this time it does turn off but you cna here a funny noice like leccy jumping a gap (doing GCSE electronics) so im get alittle more woried, i think i got water in the switch(which has a water seal around it but hay)
and it was jumping the curcuit so i do the only thing i cna think of is take the bulb out a third time leave the bulb out recover the plate and pray nothng sets on fire in the night lol i wake up this moring to fine that all is alive if not in the dark, i replace the bulb before school.........................................
.....................come back from school and see that the light is still on, good news go to turn off the light and it does even better, listen for that accursed noice but only hear the hum of the pump great,
i think the heat from the light had evaporated the water in there, we were going to buy a new bulb and see if it was the problem, but hay it maybe and excuse to get better lightning and visit the LPS
mums buying
you lot think its ok(the whole no light working and now is)?
and should i try and get a new light out of my mum anyway?
(she doesnt offer to buy much so i think i may make the best of it)
the bulb in at the moment is a 12" T5 marina crystal(two pins each end), part of a cheap tank,
what bulb should i get? a day glow? white bright?
edit: its got plants and is a 5.5 us 4.5 uk gal
