Many years ago, when I was at school (so that would be when the Dead Sea first phoned in sick), the biology lab had a water tank that required an air supply. That air was provided by an air pump but not the common 'vibration' type of today but from an extremely quiet and rather cute rotating disk type that had an arm attached to the disk which in turn drove a reciprocating valve. It wasn't hugely efficient as I recall but being able to see the action of the pump made it a bit of a conversation piece. Now, where can I buy one and more importantly, what is the name of this type of pump? Anyone?

I think you can still get the old medcalf pumps if you look really hard. I used to like them.

Found one on the devil's junkyard, thanks for that. My, my, aren't they expensive?!! Probably won't get one afterall, nice idea though.
