Rocks That Are Safe To Put Into Fish Tanks?

Can someone please give me a list of rocks that can go into fish tanks? I went to this rock place yesterday and they are selling lava rocks for 18 cents a pound. They also have a ton of other cheap rocks that I like but i'm not sure if I can put them in my tank.

I was told to put malt vinegar on the rock and if it fizzes its no good. if it doesnt boil it and let it cool before placing into a tank.

i took a few large beach pebbles and they look good on the tank onthe sand.

do not boil rocks!
trapped air pockets could expand causing the rock to explode.
