So i live in this place called Regina up in Canada. No i dont live in an igloo and no i dont have a dog sled in fact its about 30C here today so nooo snow in sight. But to my question. I have 1 lfs i trust in the city and 2 other ones and do u think any of them would cary rocks. No. One i guess has rocks but cause the others dont he can raise the price as high as he likes and get away with it. Im talking about 15 a lb. I dont wanna pay that at all and was thinking of just going rock picking in my yard or at the lake. How can i tell if the rocks are safe for my aquarium and if they will affect the PH. I was going to clean them in a mild bleach solution after i find them and then let them air dry for at least 3 days so all the bleach has time to evaperate forsure. Thanks for any help in advance.

Edit: I was thinking after i cleaned them if i stuck them in my Q tank for a little while did a PH test befor there in then 3-4 days after there in and seeing if there is a change in my PH. Will it take longer then 3-4 days to change my PH tho?

If they're clean and inert, then they should be fine.

Ti test if they're going to play havoc with your pH, a few drops of vinegar on each rock will reveal their composition.

If the vinegar fizzes, then don't put them in your tank.

Also, have a look at this.
