Hi im not sure where i could get some cheap good rocks for my tropical tank i would love to use dead coral but i heard you cant use it my LFS is a rip off! what rocks am i allowed to use in a tropical tank

but remember to wash any rocks you've gathered really really well...in fact probably boil them to be on the safe side

Do u have a local river bed near you?? if so go collecting then clean them well and boil them to kill off any parasites ect heck whats better than free??? this is what I did for my tanks currently I am collecting natural gravel

shoot forgot Dont Forget to do the vinegar test on them if it fizzes toss it dont use it

Local Gravel? I heard of the rocks but never saw or heard of gravel what size are you getting?

I live by some big ponds and rivers I have driftwood and rocks but everything is usally stone like 1/4" or bigger..

I'm pretty sure taking large amounts of local gravel or sand is illegal.

I live in the USA and taking rocks or gravel and sand here arent illegal unless you are taking it from a protected wetland. as for gravel they are about the size of store gravel

i have a little man made river near where i live but i dont think that water is safe to touch, it dont look clean one bit lol
