In my last tank which was running for years I always used RO water but sometimes I had the LFS add minerals and sometimes not, which is better for weekly water changes? Or should I just go for tap water with some tap safe? Gut feeling is RO to be honest, but not sure if I should pay the extra money for minerals or not. Any advice please?

Plain RO water is not good, it contains no minerals so the fish will not be able to osmoregulate, just use tap water, there's no reason why you shouldn't really.

Though re-mineralised RO water is fine, albeit expensive.

My concern is that tap water here is very hard and also has a PH of around 8.4. Is that still ok to use?

Is there something wrong with your tap water that forced your hand to use RO water?

Another thought! What minerals do they normally add? It would probably be cheaper for me to buy them and add to pure RO!

The minerals will be those normally found in tap water, but in different concentrations to your tap water, if I listed them all I'd be here all day.

Any idea of what is commercially available? I read somewhere about Seachem Equilibrium. Any good??
