Right Temp.

Would they not be ok un-heated?

I mean when i got my first betta, it lived in a un-heated tank for id say a good 6 mounths!

It's a pretty warm room though..

Some you may be able to sex at 8 weeks but others may take longer. It depends alot on how quickly they grow in those first 8 weeks. Generally the more fry you have the slower the growth.

As long as you keep that fry at the correct temp then you could jar up now but it will mean daily water changes.

Here's a question for you. The tank i lent to spawn in, i gave back today. Iv now seperated the fry into two tanks. Iv got the 4 gall tank set up, and then one of the sections in my big tank, which is 16 G, so about 5G there.

I was roughtly counting 50. So i put 25 into my main tank, of course making sure they couldnt get trought to the male! and i just put the rest into the 4G. There's less of them, but they have basically the same amount of room.

Would you think they will grow quicker like this, or all together in the big tank? It was about 10G ish i think.

I already do daily water changes in all my 15 tanks ranging from 2-150 gallons; i don't think another 2 quarts would be a biggy.

A 10 gal for 50+ fry is way too small. The fry give off a hormone which inhibits the growth of the other fry around it, which is why a larger growout tank is needed. Our 80 fry are currently in a 17 gal and will be split next week to a 23gal

So thats way some of mine are way bigger than others! One of mine looks like it could eat the others if it wanted to! Thats the one i wanted to separate; its already territorial!

Maybe it would be cheaper to buy one of them big plastic box's, you could try and find one big enought to fit all of your containers in, sit them in it, fill it up with some water and put your heater in that ?????

this is actualy the cheapest idea yet. I have used divided tanks and put jars in a closet with a small space heater as well.

go out and get one of those rubbermaid containers that are very long and shallow...the under the bed storage ones are best. put all your jars in leaving space for the heater and use a regular filter to move the water around all the jars. simple and very cheap. it wont even matter if the jars stick up out of the water, as long as there is a few inches in the water they will stay warm.

They look ok...

make sure they havent got any holes in the bottom as i know some do....

I got a heat pad but it says not to use with acrylic tanks! What should I do?

How many fry have you got? And do you have more planned? This will determine the best way forward.

Your call on whether to use that particular mat with the containers? At DIY stores, you can get thin polystyrene on a roll, you could use that between the mat and the containers.
