Hi all,
I got some 2 and some 4 quart containers for all of my fry. My problem is that the 2 places I could put them are weird temps.

Bedroom:
Unheated water temp.=75-65*F

"Reptile Room":
Unheated water temp.= 85-69*F

*Temps shown are from hottest to coldest unheated water got as day and night went on.

What room should I put them in? What could i do to make ether room more suitable for the bettas?

Thanks!

No way you could sit them on one of the heater matt things you use to heat reptile tanks?

All ours are kept at approx 29/30c. So your warmest temp of 85f (29c) is about right however, its only going to attain that temp for a couple of hours a day and 69f (21c) is way too low. A heatmat will work, but either use a mat stat or use polystyrene sheets to manage the temp.

The Containers are food grade acrylic If that helps...

I'm still a bit confused on how to make this...

The heat mat rig. I know i can buy a mat but how do I distribute heat evenly to all the tanks?

Try and sit them on top of the reptile tanks? the heatcoming off that might be enought!

I could put them on heat mats... Each one is 6"X6" so I'd need 12 mats.
$35 x 12= $420.

I can't really afford that.

Perhaps I could just warm up the bed room?

Any other Ideas?

Do you still have the grow out tank? i dont if it would work, but if its big enought, could you not just sit the containers inside the big tank, that would keep the water temps the same, and still divide them....

Why do you 12 mats? They come in loads of sizes. Unless you're going to heat your bedroom to around 90 degrees in wont work.

Measure the containers, and work out what size heatmat to get. Or get a tank big enough to divide up.

This is why we always say to people to be prepared before breeding. The spawning bit is easy, its when the fry are around seperation time it gets hard work.

Hmm, im tryng my best to think of idea's haha. Ill be in the same possition shortly, so whatever soloution you end up with be sure to let me know haha

P.s. I dont think your fry need seperating yet, at 3/4 weeks old, so at least you got a bit of time.
