I have a 6 foot tank with 1 male and 1 female betta. They've been in there for a year together now and though he does on occasion give chase, there are many areas in my tank where she can find peace. I also find that my female has a much more interesting "personality" than my male and she is quite assertive too. My male isn't aggressive with any other fish in my tank and I have pearl and honey gourami and high fin platy's. I think that I got fairly lucky with them getting along. So for me it has been a success but it's always a risk with bettas IMO.

Good luck with your fish :good:

Oh, someone kindly inform me of what sort of betta it is, ta :D Crowntail Chocolate? Is about all i managed to google this afternoon while at work.

You betta still is very pretty. Very interesting color combination. I only have 1 betta that is multi colored. He's a blue/white doubletail halfmoon butterfly

sure this is all about Bettas, look, i've even done some research. Do not mix bettas with Oscars
I laughed so hard at this text, but I already knew what was to come with the video which killed it

I've just read every comment, some real experienced advice and a few giggles along the way :) :)

Mustard gas veil tail whose tail was shredded by tank mates at some point in the past and/or ravaged by fin rot. It is either not going to grow back because the water quality was bad or is already growing back now.

OMG....i actually thought that was you....lol

nice VT though Tizer ;)

Funny you should say that, i said to the guy he looks a little battered, but not knowing jack about them i just went for him anyway as i liked the colours. He seems quite happy in the tank, i've been watching him do laps all evening and chill out under the spray bars. Hes already found all the dead spots in the tank. main thing is, hes fine, the wifes happy and likes him :D Will be interesting to see if the tail improves in time.

Well, I'll be typical and say you should get a betta to get your wife more into your hobby.
A betta started my love affair over two years ago, and I still have two in my house at all times..
Good luck with getting your 8'..
& good luck with the baby on the way!!

Tizer lovely male you got there, great colour :) suprised no 1 has warned you how addictive these guys are! just like cories :D

I dont think i've been bitten by the betta bug yet, but my missus likes him and actually looks at the tank during the day when shes at home trying to spot him! Im mean, 5 foot of tank is quite hard to miss, but at least she appreicates it a little now :)

He has settled in well, not seen any agression to any other fish in there and hes sussed out all the dead spots in the tank, behind the spray bars, to the side of them, above the power heads etc. I do have to snigger a little when he swims in front of one of them though, right in the flow, he gets washed down the front of the tank, but he doesnt seem to mind (its not a violent current), he will hang out there and look around for food then make his way to the side and swim up for air again.
