Ever since I first started fishkeeping I've wondered why nobody's invented a device that constantly changes water in the tank, at a gradual rate. Removing something like 1 litre an hour by a drip system, and replacing it with dechlorinated tap water.

Then I thought about the design obstacles : constantly adding dechlor, it would have to be attached to the water pipes 24/7, making sure it doesn't overflow, etc.

Do you think we'll ever see a system like this?

My biggest concern would be making sure that the amount that comes out and the amount that goes back in were exactly equal. It wouldn't take long before you had a disaster if one was faster than the other. You'd end up with an empty tank (dead fish) or an overflowing tank (a pond in your living room).

Agreed.....overflow spills, extensive time/work for construction. I have a 46G tank and it literally takes me under 12 minutes to do a 30% water change with a Python. SH
