Reverse Osmosis Unit?

Not really, the tannins that dissolve into the water create humic acid, you could experiment with acids etc but it's really not worth it, what's the PH of the water that comes out of your tap after 24 hours?

I remember testing it back when I was even more of a newbie and it was still off the scale of my test kit. I've checked the waterboard website and it says my postcode and most of england infact have extremely hard water, I also have test strips i bought with my first tank and even though I know theyre inaccurate they say my pH is 7.6 and my dh is moderate (cant remember exact figure). So I don't really know what to believe!
Here are the facts: Had apistogramma cacatuoides, celestial pearl danio and rummy nosed tetra spawn. Piece of bogwood in the tank with the CPD, which is the only pH altering thing I have as far as I'm aware, API high pH test states off the scale, test strips say 7.6 waterboard says we have very hard water.

So really I don't know what to think! Is it possible for me to have a duff high pH test? ( I mix the bottle up every time I use it)

Hardness and PH are too different things but do form a relationship, buy a new test kit or have a friend cross-reference your results, the strips aren't that inaccurate, no more so than the liquid test kits, they both use the same indicator.
