Hey guys! wow, it's been a long time since I've been on here! (almost a year and a half!) Anyway, I decided to restock my 10 gallon tank. For the past two years I have a telescope goldie in the tank. (yes, yes, I know! WAY too small for a goldfish. but I just haven't had the heart to give him up. I've decided to take him to the LFS so that he may find a better home. I trust the guy there. He's pretty experienced and knows what a fish needs to stay healthy.)

I was thinking that I would like to get some small fish to stock the tank. What would you suggest? I was thinking maybe guppies or platties? I'm not sure if I want to go with the whole molly route with them being brakish and all.

Also, I was thinking I might get a couple cories to put in there as well to keep the bottom clean. Is that good idea? Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed!

That 10 is a little small for mollies. It would probably be OK for a few platies but there would no room for fry if you also had cories in it.

If was you i would go for guppies, they are small and easy to keep and with t been 10G you can have about 8-12 in it :) with regular water changes.

yup, that's kinda what I was thinking. I want as many fish as possible in it but still be safe. And I figured guppies would be okay with that. What size tank can I raise guppy fry in? I have a few 2-2.5 gallon tanks. Would they be sufficient? I would probably bring them to the lfs for some store credit.

I would maybe get another 10g for raising your fry, :)

You can use your smaller tanks but they would only be ok in them for a couple of months.

Oh okay thanks. Another question though, how long does it take them to be ready for the lfs? The fry that is.

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm sure you can get them to the LFS when they're about 2-4 months? :look:
