Restocking My 29 Gallon

My LFS apparently got a shipment of plants I'm gonna go see what they got.

Got there no new plants. :grr: of course the guy knew what he was talking about. Yeah right.

Should I be replacing my plastic plants as I put in the live ones? When I put in the anubias on driftwood I took out 2 of the smallest plastic plants.

Ok I went to the LFS today and they had new live plants! And they had java fern! Unfortunately the high schoolers already got all the anacharis again. :grr: so I got a 12" amazon sword a 5" argentine sword and a 3-4" java ern along with a blue platy and a lyretail marble Molly. Should I leave the swords in their group or could I spread them about the tank?

Also look above at my question about replacing the plastic plants as the live ones go in.

Depends on your personal taste. My two amazon swords are near the back of my tank and are in a semi-group and look like because they are not too far and not too close. Makes a nice little jungle for the fishies :hyper: And you LFS is cracking me up....When I got my stand, It was a floor model and was like 60% off

Yes, you should start taking out the plastic plants. They serve no purpose, and will take up space as new plants come in.

I know how can they sell me something possibly broken or dirty at $20 extra because they saved 10 minutes of my time?

At the moment I have the argentine sword in looking good I'll do the other 2 in the morning. Too lazy to go downstairs to get thread for the fern and don't wanna reach into the tank right now for the sword.

Ok I currently have 2 live plants and a new driftwood in and I took out 3 plastic plants. So right now I've got 3 plastics and 2 live and 3 live on the way. The fern and sword in tomorrow and some anacharis whenever I find it.

Tread should attach it right? Also how long until I should take the thread out?

I'm talking to a wall here....

I know your pain man of fish...

By thread, do you mean a thread your using to secure a plant to driftwood? I think it takes up to three months for any plant to be rooted to driftwood...not sure

Leave it there for as long as it takes. The thread will discolor (or use brown thread) and will seemingly disappear. No big deal. Just let it be. One day you'll be doing a little more thorough vac job and you will notice how "attached" the plant is. Then you can take off the thread, but there isn't really a reason to at that point. It's better to leave it on too long than not long enough.

Yes that was what I meant. I was going to use a light brown to match that cave. So it wont be too noticeable. The sword is going in now but it a hard decision on where to put it. My tank is more to look at now with nicer looking plants and 2 more fish. Next week I'm gonna get another platy friend and a bn plec then the rest of my platys will be from my batch of fry. How old should they be before they go in the main tank? Speckles my female Molly the only original tankmate and domino the Molly I bought lastnight have already mated! :) speckles was already pregnant too. :)

I will just let the thread deteriorate there then. How long should that take?
