Restocking My 29 Gallon

I think I'll do harlequins or bleeding hearts for the tetras.
List:
8 harlequins/bleeding hearts
2 honey gouramis
6 platys
2 Mollys
1 bristlenose pleco

What should I feed the gouramis?

They'll eat the same stuff as the rest.

i actually just looked up the black skirts and it said if kept in groups around 8-10 they shouldn't be fin nippers and would only nip a betta which i no longer plan to put in this tank. :hyper:
would my fish all be fine if i fed a flake food an algae tablet and frozen brine shrimp 3 nights a week. should i also feed fresh hatched brine shrimp? Should i feed bloodworms at all? if so how often?

Also are whiteskirts the same more peaceful or more aggressive in addition to my questions in the above comment.

Whites and blacks are the same species. No difference in temperament. Ultimately, I have heard that skirts can be nippy under certain circumstances. You would be taking a chance. I would stick to the harlys for smaller fish, or bleeding hearts for larger ones. Harlys won't get more than 1.5inches, maybe 1.75 inches, but not a fully 2 inches, so you could get the large shoal you want. These are the most peaceful fish I have ever seen. They are not overly shy, nor are they nippy. They are great dither fish.

NOOOOOOOO PLECCCOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! These grow enormous, my neighbor has several in a 200 gallon and they're almost 2ft. Skip the fish, get a teacup stingray...much funner

Then you're neighbor must have common plecos. Bristlenose plecos only grow 5-6 inches.
The problem I have with harlequins though is I'd have to order them online. Shipping online is crazy. You know any good online stores where shipping isn't too expensive.
Still wanna know about the food. Look above for my questions.

Hmmm... They sell harlys at Petsmart and Petco around me. Ask if they can order them for you. They are normally about $2.50 each. I got mine on sale for about $1.25 each.

You are correct about the BN pleco.

Gouramis eat the same stuff as other fish. Just make sure that the food gets too them. My dwarf gourami doesn't come up for food, while my harlys, glo fish, and guppies are all over it. My neons also hang down. So, I just look for which side of the tank the gourami is on, then feed on the opposite side for the harlys, etc. Then, I put the flakes into the water, submerged and they gently float down. The neons see it and dart over, then whatever they miss, a far amount, the gourami gets. Finally, the food at the top is gone, and the guppies and glofish go scouring the rest of the tank (bottom) to pick off any remaining flake. The cories get shrimp pellets.

Should I feed bloodworms at all or should flakes and frozen brine shrimp 3 nights a week work?(the flake is every night the shrimp is 3 nights a week) also will only the pleco eat the algae wafer or should the other fish eat it too?

I feed frozen bloodworms once a week or less. No big deal either way. Also, I add algae wafers. Sometimes the other fish eat them, sometimes they don't. I have some algae in my tank (not much, so it isn't a big deal really). As I understand it, plecs go nuts for cucumbers and zucchini also. You could pop a piece in to the tank for a bit, and take it out after you are satisfied that the pleco has had a go at it.

I have a feeling I shouldn't take advice from someone who doesn't know proper grammar. Lol

Thanks eagles maybe I'll do the cucumber once every 2 weeks or so. I'm also gonna pick up some driftwood some algae wafers specially for plecos and some frozen brine shrimp. I'm also gonna get a few live plants.

Wood is a necessity for plecs to ensure proper digestion. Also, driftwood can get some nice algae. ;)

Yep I knew that I think I'll attach a clump of anacharis to one end of it.

I attached anubias to mine. The other option is to tie java fern to it. These plants don't do well if the rhizome (horizontal "root") is below the substrate. The anacharis will be fine if it is planted into the substrate, but will never attach itself to the wood itself, like the anubias or fern will. ;)
