Restocking Ideas - I Know How Much You Love Them!

OK, so 5x2x2 is ordered... Got 9 week wait now! Once it comes my O and GT will be moving in there, and the inhabitants that will be left in my 58usg will be:
1 x Keyhole
1 x Bolivian Ram
5 x Khuli loaches
1 x Para Pleco

I am thinking of getting a school of Rainbow fish. I was thinking of adding 6/8 x Praecox rainbow fish.... What do you reckon? Also, do these rainbows eat plants

My water PH is 7.5 and current temperature is 24c/75f - would this be OK for them?

Rainbows shouldnt eat plants, put Id get 10 then get a mate for your keyhole and 3 more rams up your loaches and maybe a school of hatchets for the top?

Blimey that sounds like it would be a little overstocked? The loaches are very happy in a 5. I could get another ram, but he's a bit of a moody s£d so may not take kindly to it. He sometimes picks on my GT, so bit of an attitude I think the Keyhole is fine on his own as well, though I could get another.

I'd rather under than overstock as I will have a 5ft to maintain as well.

Unless you got confused and thought I was wanting stocking ideas for the 5ft? No, this is the 3ft

It may be 3 foot but its 58 gallons? So its a decent sized tank, so I dont think that it was a overstock though with it being smaller than I thought maybe just do 2 bolivians so maybe consider doing

2 Keyhole Cichlids
2 Bolivain Rams
8 Marbled Hatchets
10 Praecox Rainbows
5 Khuli Loaches
1 Para plec - if anything I would put him in the big tank I have one and he is nearing 7 inches.

I wouldnt think that is overstock at all no massive fish other than the plec and even then the paras are noted for being a skinny plec and not as higher waste producer as other plecs. In my opinion thats understock slightly if I were to suggest to stock it max I would do the hatchets and the khulis to 10 a pieces.

To add, the praecox will be fine at 24c, in fact they wont appreciate anything over 26c, your tank temp is perfect for them, the ph is also fine. Rainbows do sometimes nibble on plants, depending on the plant species and they do require a good vegetable based diet, 50% veg is good for them, either by a staple veg flake/crisp or lettuce, cucumber, peas etc. Also rainbows really need a 50% water change weekly for good health. I see no problems with your set up in adding them 10 would good, go for 4 males and 6 females. Males have a red edging to their tails, females are slimmer and yellow/orange edging to their fins, usually easy to tell apart, even in an LFS.
