Restocking A 10 Gallon Tank

Hi guys, this has been a very bad week. I lost three platys and one swordtail in 24 hours. My tank has one lone otto cat. I want to start new. I am going to remove the decoration I added that I fear killed the fish, and do a large water change. But I want to know what kind of fish I should get. I prefer small, colorful fish. I was thinking about a betta, but im not too sure if that would work with my otto.

before you get any fish make sure you cycle it...

It already is cycled. but I plan to wait a while before I do get more. I am going to do my research this time.

I have my eyes on Tetras. Any type you would recommend?

rummie noses and black skirt tetras
two corries peppered are best
harlequin rasboras

10 gallons is too small for black skirts & Rummynose tetras & imo harlequins
Corys should be kept in groups of 6+ so again not suitable for a 10 gallon.
You could have pygmy corys & a group of ember tetra, or a Betta.

Get some friends for your oto! They prefer groups of 6, but you could get away with 4 or 5.
 
Bettas and otos are perfect together if the otos have places to hide. Add some more otos ASAP, and then you can add your betta at a later time

How about Cardinal or Neon Tetras? 

To be honest I don't even want the Otto, but my parents insist I keep him.
