Rescaped my 55 gallon planted community yesterday. Here's what happened:

Until my plants grow some more and I buy a few more, this'll have to do!
I'm taking my two Bolivian rams to the store, as well as my leftover Giant Danios who I couldn't catch the first time. My 10 Neons went to a friend, and now my tank is left with....
2 Angels
1 Betta
3 Swordtails
1 Whiptail Cat
4 Polka Dot Loaches

Don't worry, the Angels and Betta get along very well, and the two angels are both pretty good sized. My biggest Angel has a bent fin, and when I bought him he was getting beat up by angels less than half his size. Long story short, he's pretty docile. The smaller Angel I can't say much for, although I've never seen him show any aggression, but that can change with size of course. I'm watchful.
Alright, well I'd really like a school of something. Then my tank will be done as far as stocking goes. The neons were okay, but they didn't exactly stay together much. I want something that really stays together! Suggestions?

Also, I know this isn't the place, but if someone knows the name of these two plants, please tell.

Also, here's the best picture I could get of my angels fin. Guy at the store said it was just a birth defect, and it doesn't seem to bother him.

Plant 1 (don't quote me on this) is Rotala Indica and the 2nd is Red Tiger Lotus? (Does it grow from a bulb?)

Trying my luck with answers :p

Yes it does :) It's actually one of those bulb packages to can buy from like Petco. I had three but only one sprouted, and when it did it grew like crazy! I'll Google those plants and see if they match, thanks :)

Been waiting 2 weeks for mine to sprout :( Holding out hope!
Penguin tetra tend to stay together quite close btw. And tend to all point in the same direction. Tight schools are hard to come by I find.

harlequin rasboras, rummynose tetras, bloodfin tetras should all shoal fairly tightly...

von rio flame tetras might be another to consider...

Don't give up! Mine went atleast a month without growing and I thought it wasn't going to, then one day it exploded and is now growing like crazy. :) Worth the wait, I love mine!
I'll research them. I've heard of them before, don't think I've ever actually seen them. Thanks! :)

Always loved rummys. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll look into them. :) Any idea on the sized group I could get by with with my current stocking. I have a Fluval Canister 60 gallon filter, and 50% WCs every week or so.

Anyone have any suggestions for an easy to grow short plant? Something I can put in front that will spread easily?
Think I'll go with rummys. They have always been a favorite of mine anyways. :) Now just to figure out how many I can have....

Thank you! From what I'm reading, they aren't as good as schoolers as rummys, although I love their coloring.
