Can anyone help me decide on a substrate? It's a tie between the Caribsea Eco-Complete Moonlight Sand or regular playsand. Both look practically the same but the Caribsea is pre-washed and the playsand will require copious cleaning.

Play sand , wont matter once plants fill in.

I am using a fertilized substrate below it....I'm thinking a thin layer of Seachem Flourite capped with Laterite. Any thoughts?

Well, my tank is now officially algae hazmat. It's flippin' everywhere. It's gotten so severe on the wisteria it withered away the stem and it's now a floating plant. I am starting to get the tools to rescape now.
I will be getting a new filter and the playsand soon
If anyone ever chimes in about the fertilizer i will get those two. If not, guess I'll get them anyway.

Since no one commented on the planned stocking, I'm going ahead with it.

Sorry crossfire never saw the stocking bit looks good to me!! Don't ask me about plants though, I'm clueless hahaha! I can't wait to see when your tank is finished!

If your dosing excel your gonna need some ferts with N&P too not just the flourish. Might be why your algae so bad as nitrates and phosphates will be near zero.

I can't find a daily fert like that....so I am probably going to dose Sea hem Potassium, Nitrogen, and Phosphate

i know your getting playsand but i would go with Caribsea Eco-Complete Moonlight Sand, and what new filters are you getting and are they strong enough for at least 10x turn over?

I'd break down the weekly by 7 and dose daily ferts and carbon.

That's a lot of fertilizer... I'm going to try and find a daily NPK fert.....any US suggestions?

I don't know of any I'm afraid, PM Lljdma06 but I'm sure she used to import TPN+ from aquaessentials.co.uk into the US.
