tell me what you think of my re-scape, and be honest how could i improve it? or do you think its ok as it is?

Its the background, try it with a plain back ground, and see if you like it better.

I have to agree I think its the background, try a plain blue background.

Agree, I dont like the background, either paint it dark OR use this juwel background -> LINK I changed to this one using the rock design side of it and my tank looks so much better.

Also you need something in the foreground, whether it be some foreground plants such as anubias or even a collection of small rocks together to break up the space a bit

Fill it up properly.
Change to sand substrate.
More taller plants, and bogwood to break up the bare look.
plain black background.

ive left it a little bare for the 18 corys i have in there. in the wild they have open space to ' graze ' and seem alot happier and less skittish too. my bn is even out and about more and my talking cat never comes out in theday and he's mooching around for food.

im going to get some carpet plants to cover some of the bottom, i have an anubias on the left of the first pic on top of some bogwood ( trying to get it to root to the wood )

the other reason the tank is a little plant-less is because my talking cat is very destructive. they would be floating by the morning

why don't you fill the tank to the top-line, to get rid of the water-marked section.. It looks odd with that gap?

because to get my corys to spawn ( works every time )i replicate what happens in the wild, hence the low water line. it will be dropped a further 4 inches before its gradually raised again.....correct foods added and desired temp reached.........oh look, 300+ eggs.

i wont be collecting the eggs this time tho, they will be left in for a treat for all the fish and my talking cat will much down any surviving fry, yes maybe cruel but it happens in the wild all the time

i tried the sand route before and my plecos and talking cat kept kicking it up so it constantly looked cloudy. in a few weeks most of it will be covered in carpet plants.

i will have you know my fish are kept in tip top condition never had an outbreak of any disease! the glass is cleaned once a week - every week. i live in a hard water area so i can clean it now and by the morning there will be water marks.

You asked for honest opinions.. I gave you one

Tanks with visable water-lines and water marks are more often associated with poorly maintained tanks from my personal experience. I was not implying that you tank IS neglected, merely that it LOOKS like a neglected tank. It really detracts from the looks of any tank (except perhaps an open topped, or riparium setup).

I have a lower water line in most of my tanks. Mainly to get the spray bar above the water line in Juwel tanks you have no choice but to drop the water level, its got #28### all to do with caring for the tank!
