Replacement For Activated Carbon

im finding it very hard finding info on filter media and what is like for like. i have activated carbon currently in my canister filter. i would like to know what is a good replacement for activated carbon. is there anything that u dont need to remove if you add medication, like you do with carbon. or does not need replacing every 3 months like carbon?

I wouldn't bother with carbon untill you want to remove medication from your tank. I would just fill the space that the carbon is in with more normal filter media. If its an external filter, put more ceramic/bio balls in there Save a fresh carbon insert for anytime you use meds but thats it.

From what other people have posted, carbon looses its effectiveness within a day or so.

I would just go for bio-media, such as ceramic chips.

Its a bit longer than that, up to a couple of weeks really, maybe a month even but I wouldn't use it past 2 weeks really.
