I have 70 gallon reef tank for over 9 yeard, with Hipo tang, yellow tang, wrassse, flame angel and two percula clown fishes.   And I have 4 large rose anemome that the clown fish live in.

I have had a mated pair of true percula clown fish for over 9 years.   They continuously lay eggs every 6-8 weeks.     But last week, my male clown fish has disappeared from the tank.    I persume he died of old age???

Anyway, do you think it is ok to purchase a new clown fish and add to my tank and it will assume the male role in this relationship?

I had this same thing happen. Here's a quick video I did explaining.

You're welcome. As a follow up to the video I should  say they are now laying eggs so the male is now an egg laying female and the juvenile is the male. I also have screens over my tank now so fish can't jump out.

Well I never knew clown fish did that! Have never owned one so I suppose that's to be expected.
Great video btw and a lovely pair of fish you have there tcamos!
