Replace Filter With A More Powerful One?

I have a Top Fin 30 power filter that came with my tank. I was wondering two things but I'm not sure if the second one is too technical...

1) Will the water quality improve with a slightly more powerful filter on the same tank? (I have a 26 gallon tank)

2) Do you know if the Top Fin 40 fits the same space as the Top Fin 30?

Oh wait... one more ... does anyone know what the non-PetSmart equivalent to a "Top Fin" product is? Aqueon?

Get an Aqua Clear 50, it will beat Top Fin or Aqueon any day.
