Long story short is that i've had an ich problem for what seems to be forever. I treated with king british and got no results then i changed to interpet no.6, halve way through the interpet treatment my two infected ich riddled fish passed away but i finished the treatment anyway. I thought this was great til I noticed another fish with ich a week after I finished the last treatment. I have already ordered a bottle of protozin off ebay and that should be here on monday. Should I do a big water change before I start to retreat or any other tips for dealing with my nightmare? :-(

Why not simply use the salt and temperature treatment? You raise the temperature to about 80F, 27C, and add enough salt to amount to 1 tablespoon per gallon minimum. When the last sign of the disease is gone from your tank, you wait another week before reducing the salinity by doing a water change. I have never had this fail and I no longer lose fish or inverts like I did when I treated with patent medicines containing malachite green.

Will this be safe for corys, loaches, shrimp and malaysian trumpet snails? I have looked down this path but have been advised against it.
Any particular kinda salt, i'm looking at aquarium salt and tonic salt on ebay?

Well aquarium salt is the way to go as opposed to tonic salt, but I think it is 1 teaspoon per gallon not tablespoon. As I just lost my dwarf water frog last night due to high salinity water I am hesitant to suggest using salt.

Can you please fill this out so we know exactly what is going on to better advise you?

Can I try the aquarium salt/higher temp with Cherry Red Shrimp in the tank?

That is the $64,000 question! Every time I ask about it I get conflicting advice. I've tried most treatments available to me so now I'm waiting on some aquarium salt to be delivered! I have around 10 shrimp but no cherries and I'm trying the salt as a last resort.

I know nothing about shrimp so I did a little research... I found another fish tank chat board HERE. Basically it says that high temp and salt is BAD for Cherry Red Shrimp.
