Removing Carbon From The Filter

i have a U3 and my sponges are half carbon and half regular...so what do i do? just remove them? replace the sponges with regular ones?

its for treatment so i need to do it soon!

Hi, Mine came with two foam pads, two poly/carbon pads and Biomax nodes. I put a foam pad in each side and the Biomax nodes in the middle section in the plastic trays that also came with it. I didn't use the Poly/Carbon pads. Hope that helps.

ahhh pants ill have to have a look!

ive look and yeah i do have one foam and one poly/carbon...should i just remove that one altogether?

Not sure about putting in the poly/carbon, someone with a bit more experience might be able to tell you. You can buy a two pack of foam pads on ebay for around a fiver including p+p though. Didn't you get the Biomax nodes either ?

aye i did and the plain foam along with a poly/carbon pad

just wondering if i just remove that section it would be okay? i have another filter running

Id leave it... Once the carbons all gone it will just become filter media. Unless you need to dose meds.

Hi,

You need to completely remove both the carbon filters from the filter so you are just left with a sponge on each side. just place the carbon in an air tight bag while they're out of the tank. once your medication is complete you can put the carbon back in, if you do not remove the carbon, it will immediately take all the medication out of the tank.
