Removed Carbon, Water Gone Brown ^^

Basically I removed the activated carbon, and the water clarity has gone down

Its brown

I didn't know carbon made that bigger difference

anyway, after reading about carbon, and it needing to be replaced, is there anything other that it i can use?

like filter floss?

will it remove the brown aswell?

do you have wood in the tank? My water goes all brown because the wood leaks tannins into the water. Best remedies for that are w/c and carbon

yes, i forgot to say ^^
i have wood in the tank! i soaked in in boiling water before hand, but I suppose it didnt do much lol!

What fish are in the tank? If they are South American species the brown water actually aids in buffering and maintaing pH of the water, where do you think brown water extarct comew from? Try leaving the water as it is, you may find the fish thrive. My corys and angels thrive in my bogwood and planted tank and the slight tinge to the water actually improves the colouration of the fish.
