Hi All,

We bought a second hand Boyu TL-550 4 weeks ago, and its been up and running since then as pretty much stock until about 2 weeks ago as having read all the forums and people suggesting removing the bioballs and foam and ceramic rings as these can cause high nitrates. Anyway I still have high nitrates, around 30-40 ppm and I'm going to attempt to create a refugium in one of the rear compartments, has anybody done this? Which compartment would you suggest to put it in? I have some waterproof flexible LEDs of around 5000-6000 kelvin arriving, would these be suitable?

How has everybody else got there rear compartments setup? Starting from right, number 1 I was going to have Skimmer, plus filter floss and rowaphos between eggcrate to hold in place, chamber two the refugium and possibly live rock rubble below, chamber 3 heater, chamber 4 return pump and UV?

Also the grills to the first compartment, anybody got any suggestions on which to have open or closed?

Anybody got any ideas or suggestions in general please let me know?

Also I'll hopefully get some pictures on here soon of the progress so far :)
