So I'm starting my reef tank up soon and I've decided to get a refractometer but I have no idea what type to get or what is the best brand so any advice would be awesome :)

i was recommended a D-D refractometer when i started and its always been good.

More or less any one will do as long as it is is temperature correcting and meant for a saltwater aquarium. There are many others out there for various fluids, but they have the wrong scales. It's also useful to have one with a scale that goes to ZERO so that you can calibrate it with pure freshwater. I think most for aquariums are like that, but I've heard of a couple over time that used a narrower scale. Anyway, I have a no-name brand refractometer that has served me well for several years now and has been very sturdy. They are pretty simple devices really.

Ok thanks guys thanks for the advice :)

We use the TMC V2 refractometers where I work and they always seem to be pretty reliable

I think with a lot of things its case of you get what you pay for - id second the above for the TMC ones they've always worked well :)
