Any help would be appreciated here!

We're a bit worried that there is something wrong as we have lost 3 zebra danios, of which one of them had some definate redness of the gills. All three have got sick in turn, i.e. we just lose one and then another starts to show the same symptoms. all three have appeared to be struggling to swim and hiding themselves up near the surface by the heater - the last one was slowly swimming at a tilt and gasping. we transferred him to a separate hospital tank which we bought today and treated him with aquarium salt and melafix - he seemed to perk up slightly but was still gasping... then had a bit of a mental moment and flipped himself out of the tank while we temporarily had the lid off... we picked him up within a couple of seconds and returned him to the tank but after this he barely moved and eventually died. :( we have moved our remaining 3 danios to the hospital tank now as obviously we fear they may go the same way and dont want anything spreading - one had already started to act lethargic and is currently sat near the top (like hes treading water) while the other two swim about below. We only bought them on Tuesday so not sure if they just had a bad batch or havent settled in well or if its something more serious.

Also one of our pearl gouramis seems to be pretty much constantly at the surface rather than just once in a while as apparently normal for gouramis. He stays up at the top for maybe 10 mins then goes for a brief swim around, then returns to the surface again! not sure but it doesnt really seem like normal behaviour! both our pearl gouramis look to have some redness around the gill area, but we aren't sure if this is something to worry about or just part of their natural colouring!

Our 2 opaline gouramis, our 2 plecos and our RTBS (apart from him being reclusive and hiding away most of the time) are acting perfectly normal and seem happy and well.

Nitrite and Ammonia levels are at 0, Nitrates are between 30 and 40. Temp is at 26C.

Thanks

Is there any chance something got in the water? many fish gasping at the surface often means problems with the water quality.

Alternatively, are the fish scratching on objects in the tank?

I would of agreewith water quality but one pearl is ok and all other fish are ok the gouramis seem to go for 2 gasps and go down again for quite awhile (which i belive is normal for a gourami) the other just sits gasping for a bit then goes down again and stays down for a while.... No scratching and normal swimming. loves following the girl.... (Typical male!!)

Both tho seem a little red on the gills but not super red. (I might just be a little worried after my issues with danios.) I have heard it can just be a bit of stress from moving.... Just would like to not loose another.... its not nice or fair.
