Has anyone had these or have these.. i got 2 from my lfs and thought they were lovely. might get some more once they are settled. hadnt heard of them till the other day when i went to the store..

Hi they are they are Geophagus sp. Red Head Tapajo :) From the Rio Tapajo :)

Your tank looks pretty good for them which is very lucky!!  :) I would loose the single danio in there though.

They are a gregarious cichlid and do best in groups - quite peaceful so good tank mates for the keyholes and ram. I would add a few more Rainbows as well and it will be a really nice tank :D

Here is some info for you http://www.seriouslyfish.com/species/geophagus-sp-orange-head/

cool thanks... the idea is to get 2 more keyholes and another 3 redheads. the danio is only in there because I cant catch it..the little blighter is so fast that even 2 of us with 3 nets cant get him out so i have had to leave it in. The rainbows were some of my starter fish and would be too big for my 60l and i dont think that the missus would like me setting up another tank. I want to keep the tank as a cichlid tank with the 2 plecs.

With South Americans and especially timid South Americans like these two species it is best to have a school of something as it gives them confidence - in the wild these fish are all found in small streams and the relationship they have with other smaller fish is that if the small fish are out it is safe for the cichlids to be out and colourful if there are no small fish it means there are reasons to stay dull and hidden. In this situation the smaller fish are called dither fish. The Rainbow Fish would fill this job really well so if you can get 4 or 5 more it would be worth doing I think - a second school of slightly smaller fish like Lemon Tetras for example will also help as the Rainbows are actually pretty big.

I think 3 more Red Heads and 2 more Keyholes might work but its a lot of fish especially given the adult sizes and how chunky they are...
