Red wood in a tank?

Hi again i found some awesome pieces of driftwood but they are a redwood or rosewood and i've never seen them on sale or in a tank before. I was wondering if anyone has used redwood in there tank or if it is safe?

provided that the wood is no longer green, that is to say there is no sap left in it at all, it should be fine.
the only question I have is
is it driftwood from a freshwater source or from the sea?
if its from the sea, don't use it in a freshwater tank, due to the ammount of salt that will be in it.
