I am looking for a small shark or two for my 55 gallon tank. I came across these and was wondering the differences between them, if any.

as far as im aware you can only have one as they can be quite agressive

I was going to put them in my semi-aggressive tank. What do you recommend I put with them than?

It really depends on the individual. My Rainbow shark was very peaceful, he stayed in his little rock house all day and nibbled on algae all night, never bothered any other fish.
Red Tailed Sharks are a bit more aggressive and get a bit bigger than Rainbows, and their black body is darker.
Both species will be VERY aggressive towards anything similar in shape, such as other sharks, catfish, algae eaters, etc.

just done a bit of googling and from what i can see most sites like wiki ect say rainbow and red fin are the same fish, just depends on what you prefer to call them, are they or are they two different fish? not that i have or want any but just curious after reading the OPs post
