So was going to wait until the 5ft was here and set up, but knowing its only a week away, I could no longer resist. So off to the LFS that had a couple of these guys in a few weeks ago thinking I will just look, Honest! Not a chance, last little chappie they had, looking all pleading at me, when the guy lowered the bag to fill it with water, this fella almost jumped straight in he was so eager to get away.

I blame Mark as I keep seeing his in his avatar and all the stories his keeps telling about his mad Sev, so I couldnt wait any longer

So not the best pics and hes currently looking rather lost, especially with all the movement from the rainbows going on, but hopefully will settle down in a day or so.

They are gawjus,never seen one of these in the flesh just Gold ones with no markings and Green ones.

These were the 1st ones Id seen around this area too, glad I managed to snag the last one they had left. Hes settling in already, just gave them some bloodworms, wasnt expecting him to eat anything and he was up there immediately knocking the rainbows outta the way Dont think it will take long for him to become boss of the tank.

Another LFS near me has some red shoulder severums that Im hoping they still have left once the 5ft is ready as I want one of those as well

great fi minx i have done the same let temptation get the bette of me and got a thread fin acara knowing my tank was now overstocked i got rid of my blue acara yday for it as he was boring ...just goes to show you that you see a fish you want ya almost have to get it sl post some pics of my little guy soon if you want to see him

heres my fella got him saturday he is still settlign in but he digs all day in the substrate i love him he has such funny character races to the top of the tank when feeding time its as if he knows whats going on already and the other good thing is my JD leaves him alone salvini still gives him bit of a chase but apart from that everythinjgm is fine prefer him to the blue acara ... let me know what ya think and btw i love red sevs just wish mine wasnt full of ich when i got him i didnt realise it shame o well

heres a couple of up to date pics of my boy. he was about the same size as yours when i got him about october time hes now pretty much doubled in size

Wow mark, hes really lovely and hes really growing well, Mr Sevvy is all active today, comes rushing out soon as I go near the tank, sees the rainbows rushing forward as though they are going to be fed and obviously realises this is the thing to do

Whats that purple plant you have in there Mark, is it real?

its a thread finned acara(Acarichthys heckelii) i think if i am right one of the smaller growing eartheaters..i wish i still had my red sev but i didnt have the tank to heal him in at the time so my mate took him off my hands maybe have another one day or a rotkeil or however you spell it

he is a funny little guy he is about 3.5" atm he has not got his threads on the tip of his dorsal fins yet cant wait to see what he is goin to look liek when adult

i know its just finding them round my area you will be fine with one mark you can see the gravel i have it is bigger than sand but is still small my little guy sifts through it constantly with not problems and all he can do is get bigger so its not gonna be a problem
