Sorry about the naff quality, not too used to my new camera yet.

And technically, although I do have two red shouldered sevs, this is all the same one...t'other one likes to hide in the plants whenever there's humans about with their flashing boxes

They'll be roughly 3" now, and as you can see they're colouring up nicely. This is the least red of the two.

They're growing so quickly, whoever it was who told me sevs grew much slower than oscars was wrong  Our old oscar never grew this quickly! Good job we put them straight in a big tank...cant wait for them to grow to adult size, they're going to be bigguns - could it be because their parents were wild?

Yep - from what I have read this is what they should end up like (if they colour up - not all red shouldered sevs do):

There's a lot of overhype about them though - the rottkeil name was apparently made up by the pet trade, they're not a whole new species, just a variation. I hope mine will colour up as bright as some of those pics but if they dont I'm not going to cry myself to sleep - I wanted sevs, saw them for sale on AC and Ebay, and got them just about as cheap as normal sevs. :good:

Had them a couple of months now - there's piccies of the parents on the old ad:
