Hi,

I am looking at upgrading my current set up and I am looking at a number of options.

I was wondering if anyone has bought the new Red Sea Max 250 and what their thoughts are on it.

Thanks.

I havent bought it but for that size tank just do it from scratch, its much cheaper in the end, and much more customizable.

My review is pritty simple about the RSM.
If you have the money and you dont do it..your a fool.
They are amazing, and look so beautiful. even when empty!

Of course this is all opinion, but i find them bland, maybe they look nice because of the curvey edges, but i mean cmon, you dont have to fish out THAT kind of money for a curved edge (many acrylic tanks have curved edges, and you get the added benefits of acrylic, as well as the disadvantages), yours stuck with a skimmer that most RSM250 owners find hard to adjust, Red Sea isnt exactly the best skimmer company (cough cough prism). Plus the false wall is much harder to customize and not as effective as a sump IMO. And again, the cost!

For something that you just want to buy, and put somewhere without having to worry about much technical wise (well aside from a crap skimmer) and to have a fairly organized tank equipment wise, yes it is a good choice, but if you have a little innovation in you and dont want to shell out the $, make your own tank system.

I personally cant stand the thought of having a tank that doesn't let you set it up the way you want.

If you have incredible amounts of money and truly want an eye catching design, check out zero-edge, much more expensive than RSM but d***, now THOSE are nice.

Thanks for all of your advice.

I am still thinking of what system to go for.

I like the idea of a custom set up with a sump but cannot find a tank that I like the look of. I want one in black with rounded edges. I dont like the look of the tanks I have seen with 90 degree angles.

Idealy I would want a slightly larger tank than the Red Sea Max but it seems to meet what I want in a tank.

Thanks again.
