Hello.
The other day I noticed something odd about my long finned red minor tetra - his fins are mostly gone! He used to have nice long fins that hes been growing out since I got him in august, but then I wake up and find his fins cut short, almost as if someone clipped the ends right off. I came home today and found him even worse. Theres a big chunk missing from his tail, his bottom fins are split and torn, and one of his side fins is hardly even a fin at all. He is also swimming almost completely vertical. I can't imagine the other fish doing this to him, since he has always been the bully of my tank. I tried looking up his condition, but found nothing.

Does anyone know whats going on? I would prefer not to lose my oldest fish. :(

Somebody, my guess the Australian rainbow, is taking over and beating down your minor. If possible isolate him before he gets killed.

I'd guess the skirt tetra; nippy little blighters if not in a large enough shoal.

Alls good now. His fins are coming back in beautifully and hes back to being a bully. :) Now its the black skirt with huge chunks missing from his top fin..

Unfortunately that's what happens when the shoals aren't large enough.
