Red-Finned Shark

Ruby shark advice please. Bought a small one last week and he's taken up residence in a log and won't allow any other fish, ie zebra loach or cory, in there. He's quite funny the way he defends his log! What I want to know is what the heck do they eat? He came out to try Tetramin flake and spat it out. He defintely ate a frozen bloodworm yesterday and some live daphnia today but what dry food/flakes can I get him to eat? Can't feed him live or frozen every day!! All the other fish eat anything and everything.

Pick a brand and just keep trying him on it. If he gets hungry, he'll eat. They need a well rounded diet of a complete flake/pellet, sinking foods, frozen/live foods and a few veggies. Just what you'd normally feed, really.

They are terriatorial so I'm not surpised that he's picked a cave and is defending it. If you want to keep him you might just have to put up with it.

What size tank is he in?

He's in a 3ft tank at present. Did put him in my 4ft tank to start with but my Flying Fox, which is big and adult now, took an instant dislike to him and bullied him so they can't be together. Different species but assume it's because they're both torpedo shaped and the FF has been in there for years.

Quick update. He's eating everything now including flake. I put a ring of cucumber in today and he's eaten quite a lot of that. Had a shelled pea too at the weekend. Still dashing back to fiercely defend his log though!!
