I know the guys/gals over in the "Planted Tanks" forum keep logs of the growth of their plants, so im going to keep one of my latest spawn.

I only got these 2 several days ago, but they looked so healthy and the male makes the best nest of any of mine, i decided to go ahead and spawn them sooner than I usually do.

They were released in the spawn tank at 7am on Aug 23. The male and female reacted really great torwards each other, she reminds me of a "hunting dog" when she sees him.

The spawning tank - 10 gallon with 4 inches of water and 5 mL of Atisons Betta Spa.

The male seems to have got Ich. This is the first time ive ever had a betta with it. Lucky i have some meds that will fix him 100%, i hope.

I think you should either abort the spawn or take him out in case the ich gets worse or spreads to the fry :/

Oh yes, of course! I wouldnt just leave him. I took him out and put him in my quarantene tank and used meds.

I also lowered the water level 2 inches and added blue meth to keep the fry from fungusing(is this a word?).
Ive never heard of doing this with bettas but I used to do it all the time with my angels and ive done it once before with bettas.

I doubt fry will get any problems, i think ich is a parasite? and the blue meth should help the eggs with and bactiria, parasites, ect.

If all eggs hatch im ecpecting OVER 200 fry. But more around 50-100 would be more like it. It would also be easier on me!

day 2 - more eggs than i originally thought. a couple hundred maybe more.

the male is doing good, 18 hours of treatment and hes already getting better.

the female is back in the sorority tank doing good already. she only had some shreded fins thats all.

but half the eggs are already on the floor and the other half are in a sparsh bubble nest. so maybe i will get 100-150 fry. should hatch overnight, tomorow morning.

any hatchlings yet? quite a nice pair you have there! hopefully the fry survive the ich attack!

Saw the first one today about 11 am. and since then theres about 50. most of the eggs are on the ground i really cant see any fungus on them or anything but if they dont hatch in a few hours i have to take them out.

but at least some hatched, i really didnt want 200 eggs 50 will be fine with me. ive got 6 other spawns right now so im trying to keep them small so i dont have to use my bigger grow out tanks yet.

oh and the father and mother are back 100% already hes flaring and i just fed him so he will be fine.

i never tryed that before. i did have another spawn at the same time that might have worked. but problem is disturbing the other nest might cause male to eat the eggs. I dont know maybe if i had a male that i was 100% sure would not i might attempt it.

anyways i have pics of the fry. you can kind of see them but its the best pic i could get.

day 4 - official count for fry is 50, but i had another spawn of blue hm bettas that was unsuccsessful and onl have about 20 eggs so i added them to the mix with the red dtpks. i dont know if any of them at all hatches, but i should know withing a month.

still going good, lost a few i think and just confirmend a few dts!!!

probably going to try the pair again in a few weeks, i really want to start a line of these. and try to get the colors more solid. hopefully.
