Red Clawed Freshwater Crabs.

I've just been given a couple of these crabs from a friend...He reckons he had them in a peaceful community tank and had no problems. I asked if they needed air to breath and he said he kept them in water and they were fine..Is this right I don't no much about them and from what i can find on the internet well it all contradicts everyone else. So anyone with these crabs for can deliver some info wuld be great. Cheers.

They are actually a brackish species, that like a small amount of 'dry land'
(They will only live for a very short amount of time if kept in freshwater)

I phoned up lfs who said they'll be fine in fresh water and just kept in water...Looks like they strike out again!
