i have 3 red clawed crabs in my one set up. it is a ten gallon aquarium.. 2 parts land 1 part water.. their water checked out perfect and they always have a good amount of food so they wont go hungry, good hiding areas etc.

i have two males in the tank and one female. the largest male is around 3-4inches in length including his legs. he has two very large claws. my other male is only around 1-2 inches in length and i found him just minutes ago with no claws. i suspect that my large male has done this. he has been eat non stop for the past few days and this is strange i believe that he will be molting soon because of the white around the eyes. my crabs always do this before molting. he is very friendly and usually i can hand feed him and he gets alone great with my female.

what should i do. i have already put the crab with no claws in a container with food and water. enough so that he is not fully submerged. will he be able to eat on his own or should i try to help him. he is very scare and i'm just starting to handle him because my friend did not want him so she gave him to me. even though i know that they are territorial animals i did not expect this to happen.

ideas?

got him eating, back leg has shell off and is exposing meat of the leg.. not to good. now separated from other crabs.. and hoping to make a recovery..

personally, i dont think a 10g, even split as you say, is big enough.

but leaving that aside, is your water brackish?
