Hi,
I recently purchased some red cherry shrimp on-line (2 adult females 16-18 juveniles). I had them in a 10 gallon tank that was fully cycled with 5 ember tetras. The media was sand, but I changed it to FluValve Shrimp media. I did this over the course of 4-5 days by slowly removing sand and replacing with new media. Shrimp were all doing fine. Then the next morning, they were zooming around the tank like something was wrong. I immediately checked the parameters and there was a Nitrite spike. I removed them and put them into my other fully cycled tank in netted enclosure used for fry. The tank parameters were back to normal by the next day. I moved the shrimp back to that tank. Now, they are running around the tank like crazy . . . all of them even the babies. Tank parameters are still normal, PH is about 6.8. I just checked on them and some of the juveniles have settled down and appear to be foraging and eating. The two adults are still running around the tank . They are not going to the top of the tank if that makes any difference.
Any ideas as to why they are behaving like this?
