I have a question for you if you dont mind :)

What do you feed such fish? and does it cost a lot of money for thier weekly feed?

i feed live giant meal worms also know as mario worms and prawn to the arowana
prawn and pellets to the tiger fish
prawn meal worms and pellet to the rays
blood worm to the flagtail

it costs about £25-30 per week

most of that goes on the meal worms i buy 1kg and feed 100 worms per day 1kg = £20

i do 2 x 25% water changes per week which takes about 1 hr each with a gravel clean

Blimey, dedicated then...

Aint there a way you could culture your own worms?

maybe but they the worms turn into a big black beetle as adults

the filteration is to the max if i had more room for filters i would add them

2 x eheim pro3 2080
2 x eheim pro3e 2078
2 x eheim 2252 internals
2 x bladgoon 5000 pond bucket filters
2 x vectron 25w UV run back to back to make a 50w UV
1 x shuran sand filter
1 x shuran nitrate reactor

i also use polyfilter in my internal filter 4 x sheets changed every 3 weeks

I used to cultivate giant meal worms/zoophobias as centipede food... worked out pretty well (I prefer cockroaches nowadays though), It seemed to have no problem with the adult beetles, would the aros mind eating a beetle opposed to a worm? You could always just pick the worms out of the culture and let the worms do their thing... is a bit more work though. Awesome aros :D ;)

Their smell is the worst thing ever, I ordered a 1kg bag opposed to my usual tub for my reps, and found out they shat themselves their weight everyday, and then when I let some grow into beetles they stank even more...

i breed mealworms... they dont stink at all if you do it properly.

get a large tub, put about 4" of porridge oats in the bottom, and then put the mealworms in. give them fresh fruits every few days... they'll soon turn into beetles and then breed lots lol.

Yup, in my experience mealworms don't stink at all, just the dead ones...

You could always try some cockroaches (like blaptica dubia), They don't stink and they have a good nutritional value (also they reproduce quickly) ;)

nice big tank m8 nice fish

i miss my big tank but i am not allowered a big tank anymore but i have 7 tanks at the moment so i think i win with the wife more tanks wld rather have one big tank bring bk my 8ft tank

They wouldnt breed quick enough to supplement feeding you would need them to be producing between 500g-1kg a week to sustain feeding the aros. I use 250g a week feeding mine I dont think the bettles would breed readily enough to sustain not buying them.

you'd be surprised! They're little nymphos.

to tell the truth my goal in life if to breed Asian arowana not meal worms

i feed 1kg per week so if anyone thinks they can breed and supply me 1kg per week for less than £20 give me a shout

Ahh yeah, they died aswell, since it got so humid that the poo got wet, and thats when it stinks  Far too much effort for some food

Looking good Richard, sorry if i've missed this info....but how big is the DAT right now? Is it a Pulcher?
