Red Belly Piranha

Yeah i noticed that in the tv mag earlier :). I haven't got the movie channels though lol bare in mind that film is a bit far fetched and pirahnas are not as bad as what they make out lol black piranhas might be as they are considered worse than red bellys but im not sure if its true or not :)

I really do not see why anyone would be live feeding when it can kill your fish through a diseased "feeder fish" (I hate that term) watching something live get ripped to bits isn't what I would call fun, especially when there is no need for this.
I'm no expert on piranha, I don't really like them to be honest but if I remember right I think I read something saying that they need to be in groups of 6+.

I don't think there is any need to feed them live food as iv also heard it can carry over diseases and as i mentioned i don't like the idea of feeding live anyway. Yes it is advised to keep groups of 4 - 6. The more the better when it comes to piranha but my tank is not big enough :(

A LFS I go to sells them for £4 each I think. They're around 3 inch

I had 8 red bellies in a 5ft when i was approx 20yr so very very long time ago....monthly if that water changes UGF filter no gravel vacs and feed live goldfish becuase i thought it was cool. If i only knew then what i know now :grr:
They fished lived about 3 years like that till nana bruiser turned off the pump and heater beaucse they were too loud and told me 3 days after :-(
I must admit when they were little they were shy and skittish but when they grew up they did take a few chunks out of me

They are £8 each or 3 for £20 here at they are around 2 or 3 inch. Can get both red belly pacu and piranha easily here. They sell them at my lfs which is good. Ye when they are bigger you have to be very careful with them. If they are hungry they won't think twice about biting you.

Really they bit you

Yeah but not like you see in the films, one of them would fancy his chances come over for a nibble then the rest of them followed so more then likley 1 out of 8 got a bite in lol

My congo tetra seem to bite more then my Piranha did

Even my goldfish and my Betta bites me when I put my hand in both of there tanks but only one goldfish does it and only one Betta fish does it
