My powder blue dwarf gouramis Monty has resently developed a red abdominal spot, pictures can be seen here http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=154074 since those photos were taken, the ulcer seems slightly larger and darker, but monty is still actively exploring his tank and will eat.

It was recogmended that i treat him with an antibiotic, i have some tetracycline, will this possible work? i have not seen any other antibiotics avaliable at the LFS. i also do not have acess to medicated food.

I have moved the neons (in the quarenteen tank) into the community tank since the last post and have prepared the tank for monty as a hospital tank, i will move him tonight.

1. will tetracycline work?
2. how do i make my own medicated food?
3. what are his chances of survival?

Thanks sylvia and anyone else who helps
Tara

Yep it is an ulcer, tetracycline is a very good antibiotic, as long as you treat in a hospital tank as the antibiotic will wipe the bacteria colony out in your filter, good luck.
