I Placed an order with liveaquaria.com on 7/17/2007. The order was placed first thing in the morning on Tuesday and I received it on Wednesday at 11:30 am. The order was for one gold ram, 2 golden veil angels, guppy pair, shrimp, freshwater clams, and a dwarf guarami. The order was in a large heavy duty box clearly labeled with its contents. The inside of the box had an insulated container housing the fish in individual bags. Each bag was triple baged and sealed with a small metal ring ensuring the bag was not coming open. There were two heat packs inside the insualted container. The bags were typical fish store bags with the angels bag being black in color for the bottom several inches. All the fish arrived very healthy and happy. I normally do not feed new fish for a couple days since they wont eat anyways. Due to how active and healthy the fish looked I went ahead and tried to feed them. To my surprise every fish happily devoured their food. This was just kind of an fyi about my experience ordering fish online since I see so many threads about this. Oh and the shipping price was my only complaint at $34. Feel free to throw your two cents into the mix or ask questions if you have any. I did not do any of the water testing I had hoped to on the water the bags came in.

Glad you had such a good experience and nice to know how carefully they package. I've never gotten fish on-line before.

i think its good 2 hear a happy customer using these internet sites 2 buy fish, so many people r wary of them and maybe this will help a few people, well done :good:

I hardly go to local fish stores anymore. I order almost all of my things off of liveaquaria and etropicals. VERY reliable.

What I like is if you call them up you get a PERSON, not a "press 1 to continue in English. Press 2 to throw your phone at the wall".

Liveaquaria is probably the best site to buy fish from. I've probably bought over 50 fish from there, and only had one bad order. Excellent customer service.

I bought ten red cherry shrimp online. They were packaged great. There were no dead shrimp, and they were great quality. I bought them off of aquabid. I think I would buy online again. Glad you had a great outcome at buying online. :)

I am also glad your items arrived safely. Maybe this thread will help convince my parents to let my buy fish from liveaquaria now. I've been looking at their fish for a while but I knew I couldn't buy any. Now I have a chance! :yahoo:

The amount you spent on shipping ($34) could have easily bought you all the fishes (and much more) from your LFS. :hyper: (no offense)

My lfs doens't have that many fish, so I get the ones they don't have from liveaquaria.

The point of this thread is to let people know about my experience buying fish online. I as well as everyone else know that $34 would buy a lot of fish at a store. But there are lots of people who don't have a store or can't get store or their store sucks. As you saw someone else mention they might be able to order fish online now. Maybe another person who was skeptical will give it a shot now.

Oh and all the fish are still doing well. one of the shrimp molted, the clams are moving all about and the fish seem happy!

Unfortunately not everyone is near shops that have good selection, healthy conditions, or that will do special orders. The real trick to ordering online is to try to order as many fish at once as possible to keep them bundled under the same shipping cost bracket.

Since I linked to this thread in another, I figured I'd make an update. We lost one of the angels about a month after we got him. We don't know what happened as he appeared healthy and was growing and behaving normally. He just disappeared, we never found him outside the tank and can only assume our clean up crew did a real good job with his small body. All the other fish are still alive and doing well. The angel is huge and beautiful and the ram has now mated!

I will not order from them anymore. I ordered six gold three-spot gouramies and five blue three-spot gouramies from them. I paid extra money for Saturday delivery. They delivered the six gold gouramies and they all were in perfect health. But, they did not deliver the blue gouramies. If they don't get more in stock they will cancel that part of your order. I called them and they agreed that I should not have to pay the exorbitant shipping price again since it was not my fault they ran out of the blue gouramies even they said they had them when I placed my order. But, when the blue gouramies arrived (they were in perfect health also), I noticed on the bill that they had not credited me the Saturday delivery fee.

So, I had to pay for six gold gouramies, shipping fee, and saturday delivery fee. I also had to pay for five blue gouramis, got the second shipping free, but had to pay once more for the saturday delivery fee. The fact that they are so cheap as risk future business with me over a lousy saturday delivery fee is the reason I refuse to give them another penny of my money.

I have given up ordering fish online since my experience with aquascape.com was much much worse.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck Bullrock. Did you ever try to straighten things out or just give up? I have never had to deal with their customer service but have heard nothing but good things, thats why I ordered from them. Good of you to note that at least the fish were healthy!

Well, I talked to their customer service people and thought I had it all straightened out. I just don't like their shipping policies especially how they will just cancel an order if they run out of stock.

But, they do ship high quality animals.
