Really Colourful Aquarium Fish Please?

Can anyone please suggest some really colourful freshwater fish.
Preferably , one that one that doesnt grow more than 5 inches and one that lives long (4 years or more), isn't predatory ,not too delicate. P

You could try investigating the various types of rainbow fish available-dont check them in shops as their full colour potential doesnt appear until they are full grown. Get books etc .

Your right the Rams don't live long compared to other fish. Maybe you could look into Kribensis Cichlids, lovely colours on them and a reasonably easy Cichlid to keep!

some sources put the life span of rams between 2-4 years and others at 3-5 years. why is the life span so important anyway?

the smaller the fish the less long it will live generally. 5 inches isnt very big for fish

Guppies, or I can't remember the name of these fish, but they are called "Fake....somethings" they are purple and yellow, they look like the marine ones but they are fakes (hence the name).
