i agree. there are other ways to get the same point across without sounding like youre having a dig at someone
i personally am not a fan of the tank set up but ill tell you why. i think a theme in a tank is what makes it look good or bad. there is somewhat a mix in there between the sphinx, the gargoyle and the rock. my tank has sand, wood, big shells, small grass like plants, some bigger plants, rocks, little palm trees and a sunken ship. this creates a completely tropical look and everything fits together. i agree with the post about making an egyptian theme. you can even try a couple of different options and change them from time to time. with the gargoyle you could buy a nice castle type ornament and a few other appropriate things to complete the look. i would also go for sand or at least a light coloured gravel as personally i think the coloured stones are ok for small goldfish bowls or something but in a bigger tank i do think it can cheapen the look a little. and lastly i think you should think about using some real plants or even maybe using some more real looking fake plants. there are some amazing fake plants out there these days.
i almost forgot keeping all the mechanical workings of the tank off to the side or out of general view helps. sometimes these things can detract a little from the overall look of your tank.
hope this proves to be a little more constructive for you
I actually like the first arrangement a bit better.
The addition of more plants is a good thing to fill in the back a bit more, but I think the garg figure makes it all a bit too busy looking.
Have you considered sand or maybe a sandy colored gravel? I think that would look VERY cool since you have the sphinx in there. You could have a desert/Egyptian theme in your tank! OOO just picturing it in my head and it looks cool heh
You could try to find maybe some cactus statues to put in there.. or sarcophagus looking ones... etc. hehe
