I was wondering what are the different methods other than putting the parents into a new tank if the parents eat the eggs?

I've heard of a few and one called marble? or something but dont have a clue what they are! :P
anyone know much about techniques here? :)

well moving the eggs is a good way, the tank they are going into would need to be the same tank water as before (taken from that tank) the filter matured off, ideally having 2 running in the previous tank solves that problem, I've tubbed angelfish eggs under water and transfered the slate still in the water in the tub into the new tank, also the tank they go into needs to be a the same temp. Its sometimes easier to just move the parents. Some people net the eggs.

marbles on the bottom will hid the eggs/ fry while you remove the parents

Ah ok wouldnt netting the eggs kinda squash some?? and wouldnt putting marbles in also squash some that they land on :S?

Hi clowloachguy :)

What kind of fish are you thinking about breeding?

Lots of people use a net material to allow eggs to drop out of the parents reach. It has to be a wide enough net to allow eggs through with ease, but not wide enough to allow the fish to try and swim through it (they get trapped!).

where would u get a net like that from? and how would that work in a fish tank my tank has nothing on the sides for the net to be floating a bit abover the gravel =/

Hi clowloachguy :)

Corydoras like to place their eggs on the glass and you can remove them to another tank to raise the fry. It's something that takes a little practice, but it's often done.

cool but how do u get something that small from 1 tank to another in a net without squashing them? and your not meant to take them out the water are you?

Hi clowloachguy :)

When the fish first places them on the glass they are soft and sticky but they firm up and lose this quality given some time. If you see them before too long, you can roll them off the glass with your finger and stick them onto the side of another tank or specimen container. The seconds it takes to move them won't hurt them.

If this is something that might interest you, here's a link to a good article about raising corys.

Feel free to ask more questions in the Corydoras section too. :D
