Rams... Bit Of Advice Please

Hello,

I am a new member on here and I have a couple of questions about some rams. I bought some German blue rams over a week ago and they are roughly an inch long and I think both are female, judging by their pink bellies. Then yesterday, I bought a couple of gold rams (I know these are the same fish, but I think the names I am giving them here are descriptive of the way they look). I believe these 2 are male but I am not completely sure. Also, they are between 1 1/2 and 2 inches in length. So, can anyone tell me what sex they are? Also, with this size difference, will they eventually pair up? Do gold rams pair with German blues? The reason I am asking is because the smaller blue rams seem to be arguing a little bit. They have lots of densely planted areas and some caves but I thought if they pair up they will divide their territory more easily and then hopefully not have as many arguments as they are right now.

Anyway, the original 2 rams, are they female?

Yeah your blue rams look like female to me...and the gold rams look like male...... but one of the experts will prob be along and confirm.

I also have blue and gold rams and tis the gold and blue that have paired off laid eggs once but sadly the were munched I'm hoping that they will lay again soon, by the way when they do lay they become very aggressive. My rams are always squaring up to each other, as long as the is plenty of caves and cover for them they will be fine

I'm not an expert by any means but I think your GBR on the back/left looks male, due to the shape of the dorsal fin, but I could be wrong. And I agree that both golds are male.

I only have Bolivian Rams so sexing them is slightly different.

The blue rams looks like females the pink belly and they look round females tend to be rounder.

The golds are color morphs and they tend to be a bit harder to sex ime. My guess is they are males but I don't know.

They all look very healthy and happy. You are doing something right and if you do have different sex fish I bet they will spawn soon.

It seems that mine have already begun to pair up. The bigger of the gold males that I have seems to be guarding the larger of the blue females and they are spending a lot of time together. It's a,axing watching the 4 of them interact

They look awesome really nice fish. It looks like a bar fight is about to go down. Great photo.

Well the blue ram on the left I say is female for sure that pink belly is a sure sign. The blue one on the right looks like a male. I think you have a pair.

The gold rams is no as easy to tell. Culd be 2 males I think that's just a guess.

Thanks, the gold and blue ram on the left are the pair and the other 2 are males but sadly the gold male died the other day He was constantly bullied by the other males to the extent that he eventually lost all his colour almost white so just left with the 3 now.

Oh no I would rehome the third wheel. 3 is s bad number of cichlids. If you do have a real pair just keep them and rehome the others befor you lose another. Rams can be mean little fish. I had a male kill another male.
